Hi Heather. Thank you for the video. I have one question, though. About the free ATS-compatible resume thatbyou have shown around the mark 5:11, are the section headers a 1x1 table or simply typed and underlined text? I ask, cos from what i have heard, tables are not read well by ATSs.

To recruiters, know that using ATS might feel like an intelligent move, but it is not. Earlier, when such a system was not being used, lot of people who may not have been a 100% match, however, had great skills and potential could be hired. But now with the ATS, a system with pre-defined criteria is deciding whether to pass a candidate or not. This is stupid and ineffective. Now a lot of people who may do a great job in a position despite lack of "credentials"/"degrees" are umable to get a job cos there is no competent human at the other end who may have the wisdom to see the potential of that candidate and give them a chance!!

Please advise how I can get rid of it! LinkedIn is just as bad as Tinder; fake profiles, CVs that are incorrect, no one responds. offers of jobs that are beyond my capabilities. I have two accounts that are both no longer recognized. I need to install the app and create an account. Well byeiiiiiiiii, big thumbs down. There are also complaints about LinkedIn on TrustPilot. Tells candidate, we are still interviewing other candidates BUT DO NOT WORRY, you will hear from HR IN couple of days 4. Calls ends with appreciating candidate taking time to give interview. It's gotten to the point where one is better off ignoring most of these surprise recruiters that are increasingly asking for highly inappropriate personal info like the last 4 digits of your SSN - report those if you can.

You don't get a job cause no one is hiring at the first place. Nothing has to do with correcting resumes.😂

The networking part is so overwhelming

I know this is a 2 year old video, but it is still valuable information. With that said, I just turned 64 and have been a Warehouse/Facility manager for over 20 years (not to mention being in manufacturing, production and inventory control) and was recently down-sized due to a business losing customers to the competition in their market. We went from 200 plus employees to under 100 in less than 5 months. As I started back interviewing, I have great success in the "phone" interview portion, so much so, they can't wait to get me on-site for a sit down interview. As soon as they see me, I can tell by the interview questions that this is going no where fast. I had my resume reviewed and tweaked by a professional service. When I get called for an interview, I have heard this several times; "your resume is so impressive, you are our first candidate." With that said, my resume has no embellishing added, it's just me. I have been to over 25 of these type of interviews and no, it is not me or my experience, it is ageism.

The hiring manager may no care, but recruiters are biased against people that own their own companies. Forbes wrote an article about it. Reason to try to find out who the hiring manager is and by pass the recruiters

It is more than 4% of unemployment! The data that comes from this government is false because it does not reflects the reality. The ratio between available jobs and people looking for a job tells me there is a high unemployment, worse than 2009 .

Everyone says, tailor your resume accordingly to a specific job, but the funny thing is, many of us apply to like 4 different types of jobs, and no one is gonna go through the effort or time to tailor their resume everytime... its kinda stupid, ngl

Even though I got an associate's degree in medical billing and coding, my personality isn't conducive to holding clients' feet to the fire in order to pay their account balances due to being a bleeding heart; however, I did learn a lot of good stuff re: medical office work in my coursework and would still like to work in a medical office.
